An exceptionally rare M35 Kriegsmarine double decal helmet in size ET70, produced at the ET factory in Thale. Between 1935–1939, as Germany re-armed in violation of the Versailles Treaty, helmet production prioritized the Heer and Luftwaffe. The Kriegsmarine, with far fewer land-based units, received only a fraction of helmets. This scarcity makes surviving M35 KM DD configurations some of the rarest in the collecting hobby, rivaled only by M35 DD SS examples.

The Kriegsmarine eagle decal displays the distinctive layered 3D effect typical of early production, reflecting the unique printing process of the mid-1930s. While partially defaced during the postwar de-Nazification process, much of the decal remains intact, preserving the helmet’s historical character. The rest of the paintwork and finish remains untouched.

Collector’s Analysis

Rarity Factor: Among the rarest helmet configurations in the hobby — early KM M35 DD helmets, especially in size ET70, are seldom encountered.

Historical Context: Reflects the Kriegsmarine’s limited land presence and low priority in helmet allocations during the prewar years.

Display Potential: A standout piece due to its oversized shell and scarce double decal configuration, even with decal defacement.
